The 4th of July in Paris

We had a fantastic time in Paris celebrating the 4th of July this year. We broke from our traditions and spent the week in Bear Lake with Grandma and Grandpa. Turns out Paris, Idaho, knows how to celebrate! Grandpa kept telling us that breakfast was served from a chuck wagon. Well of course we had to have breakfast served from a chuck wagon. We stood in a long line, for a long time. To keep ourselves busy we played the ever popular game of high five every which way. They are classic. Let's see if I can remember them.

1. Give me five.     2. Give me five.   3. Give me five.    4. Give me five.
Up high.                 Up high.              Cut the pickle.     Cut the cake.
Down low,              In the sky.          Tickle Tickle!       Belly ache!
    Too slow!               In space.
                                  In your face.

We could have stayed in line all day these games were so fun. But we had to move on. After eggs, pancakes, hash browns and chocolate milk, we headed over to the Paris Tabernacle for a patriotic program. Do you know what I think? I think pioneers were short! Those benches were so close together that we had to sit sideways. Small price to pay though, it was a great program.

Then we left the tabernacle, walked across the street, set up our chairs and waited for the parade. The kids found a cotton candy stand, Grandpa bought me a huge, delicious cookie and we settled in to see the best parade ever. It was fun. Ok, it wasn't really huge and grand, but it went down one side of the street, and then turned around and came back down the other side of the street. Even seeing it twice, I think it only lasted about 45 minutes. Perfect! Lots of candy, necklaces, a pair of flip flops and just a little rain.

A great day to remember those who have served our country. Thank you Grandpa Marler and Uncle Mike for your service to our great country!  We live in a blessed land and I'm so grateful!

Happy Birthday America! We love you!
