The First Signs of Spring...

Yesterday Brooks made a snowman. He had on his big winter coat, gloves, hat, snow pants and boots. In April. The end of April.
Today, everybody was outside soaking up the glorious sunshine. Even though there was still a little bit of snow lurking in the shadows. No coats or jackets, and (gasp) no shoes! (Just remember, I am not in the running for  the Mother of the Year Award) They all came in with rosy sun kissed cheeks and crimson arms. And DIRTY! Do you think playing in the gutter with the rocks and dirt would count as a sandbox? Their fingernails were full of dirt and their hands were sticky. They all had a ring of dirt just in general around their faces. Some worse than others.
I have to admit every time I looked out the window I wanted to say something very motherish, like, "Get out of the gutter!" or "Don't get your clothes dirty!" or "Put on your shoes!" But I couldn't. It's spring today, who knows what it will be like tomorrow. And the first time out after the long, cold winter is just too precious and too special to ruin with common sense.
